This summer Vicolo presents a series of free outdoor gigs every Friday with live music from folky pop to R&B, blues, jazz and soul. Enjoy chilled-out live sets every Friday evening, the ideal setting before or after a film at Tyneside Cinema, for after-work drinks or starting your night out. There’s no need to book, just rock up to High Friar Lane and enjoy live music, great food, Estrella Galicia on draft and Vicolo’s signature cocktails.

Vicolo Live In The Lane: Fika. North-East two piece Fika fuse voices, ukulele and flat picky guitar with lots of energy, playing a mix of their own material and smooth adaptations of classic tunes.
Friday 14 July
Vicolo Live In The Lane: Savannah Betts. Savannah is an independent singer-songwriter from Hong Kong. Her eclectic mix of strong rhythms and melancholic undertones alludes to Paul Simon and Laura Marling.
Friday 21 July
Vicolo Live In The Lane: Paige Temperley. 24 year old Newcastle based singer-songwriter Paige Temperley plays folky pop styled originals and nostalgic covers. Paige released debut EP ‘Let’s Start at the Very Beginning’ at the end of last year which is available on iTunes, Amazon Music and google play among many other online retailers.

Vicolo Live In The Lane: Ian Simpson & Stu Dawson. The singer/guitarist from North East blues trio Broken Levee is joined by local guitarist Stu Dawson in a new duo guitar/vocal setup, delivering a rich new take on the blues and drawing influence from an wide range of artists. After having reached number 4 in the IBBA chart with their debut album Out Of The Storm in 2017, Ian is looking forward to performing the band’s material as well as some of his favourite blues repertoire in a string of local gigs with his new duo guitar and vocal set up. The first of which will be at the Tyneside Cinema on Friday 28th July. Ian will be joined by local guitarist Stu Dawson. Their set echoes the Great British and American blues acts but also delivers a unique and rich new take on the genre. The duo are constantly drawing influence from an eclectic range of artists from jazz, funk, soul, rock and indeed the blues!
Established in 2016, Vicolo is Tyneside Cinema’s latest food and drink venue. Open early until late, Vicolo is a stylish coffee and cocktail bar and pavement cafe also serving a range of drinks, light snacks, cakes and pastries – the perfect stop for an early morning coffee to go, a delicious lunch or a late night liaison.
