They asked us to review their new Platinum Lounge and we were certainly not disappointed! With it falling on a busy December’s Saturday night in Newcastle we decided to combine this with our annual Nights Out In Newcastle Christmas do. The room takes up to 25 people so is perfect for a Stag or Hen night, as well as birthdays and special occasions.
The room comes complete with two American pool tables, a huge 100 inch projector screen with Sports channels including BT Sport, touch screen Karaoke Machine, Bluetooth facility to play music from your own phone or mobile device, Play station 4, LED Floor Including Inbuilt twister board and table service.
We arrived at 7.00pm and we’re warmly greeted by the staff who showed us to our room, they had kindly got it all set up and had ice buckets full of beer waiting for us. We were really blown-away by the platinum lounge, it was perfect for a party with comfy seating around the room.
Beers in hand, football on the TV and pool tables at the ready we had everything we needed for the perfect night out. The pool tables were great quality and could have either normal lighting or blue UV style setting. They can also arrange for the tables to be converted to Ping Pong/Beer Pong on request.
The service was fantastic and the staff were really attentive. Checking we were ok, taking away empties and having a good laugh with us. It was great to see. So many places shy away from Stag and Hen groups or lay down the law with large groups but there was none of that. They helped us get in the party atmosphere and kept the night running like clockwork.
With the match on and the pool games underway we decided to get some food. Spot White’s have a fabulous menu of sharing food with all the usual suspects available, such as Pizza, Burgers, Hotdogs, Nachos, Wings, Nuggets, Wraps and Paninis.
They also do some truly tremendous chicken with Sticky BBQ Wings, Southern Fried and Popcorn Chicken, as well as some very tempting sounding stacked Burgers, complete with an array of amazing extras such as peanut butter, mozzarella sticks and hash browns.
You can really go to town with the food and treat yourself to some American classics, delicious desserts and mouth-watering shakes.
Being on Stowell Street in Newcastle’s Chinatown they also have a few interesting surprises on the menu you’d not normally expect to see, such as Dim Sum, Kim Chi Soup Noodles and Pad Thai!

The food was great and very reasonably priced. Open till 6am an amazing 365 days a year they even serve food up until close, making it a great venue to end the night out in Newcastle in.
With the match over and our bellies full we were happily ploughing our way through the beers when Ann from Spot White decided we needed to get the party started with some shots and an ice bucket of Ciroc and Red Bull.
Whether it was the caffeine in the Kahlua and Red Bull or the copious amount of Vodka it definitely got us all in the party spirit!
One feature we all absolutely loved was the Bluetooth facility to play music from your own phone or mobile device. We all synced in our phones and started blaring out the tunes. It was fun to go through our music and reminisce as we rolled back the years, playing some favourite anthems from our misspent youth. This would be perfect for a stag or hen do, taking turns to play songs, ribbing each other for any terrible picks and bad lip-synching. For us it was mainly hits of the 90’s, with some Green Day, Stone Roses, The Pixies and some Oasis. A few forfeit shots for those who completely miss judged the crowd meant everyone got in full swing and the night really got off to flying start.
The good thing about the Platinum Lounge at Spot White is you can just do whatever you want, with some playing pool, others watching the game or blaring out the tunes. There was a PS4 available for anyone who fancies gaming on the huge screen but we didn’t use it, electing instead to stick to the music and some classic pool games like “killer“, all with forfeits of course!
The drinks were all very reasonably priced and that plus the pool and karaoke facilities that make a real difference compared to other venues. Paying at least half the price of some bars for the spirits and mixers in an ice bucket. It all means you can all chip in and get a really good night on a budget. Perfect for Stag and Hen Weekends.
Spot White has a good selection of cocktails and is good for getting the stag or hen a daring drink. Unfortunately, as we were just there on a jolly the cocktail of doom fate fell firmly on me to drink. The staff whipped up a bizarre shot with absinthe, tobacco and tequila in it!
Next up after that we decided to hit the Karaoke. As typical blokes we had shied away from it till now, but some Dutch courage in the form of Johnnie Walker Red Label and more Vodka and Red Bulls helped us overcome this in trepidation. Our brave first pairing stepped up to the stage and sang what can only be described as the worst duet since Robson and Jerome. Once bitten by the Karaoke bug it was hard to stop with everyone blaring out some truly awful renditions, such as a truly unrecognisable “Sweet Child of Mine” by Guns N’Roses.
With the drinks flowing we sang our hearts out till the end of the night much to everyones surprise. It is safe to say we were not the best the staff had heard but we’re reassured they had heard worse! The Karaoke adds a great element to the venue and it has an absolutely huge catalog of songs to choose from. They have multiple microphones and even stands for those of you who actually know what they are doing.
With the addition of Cocktail Class Packages in the new year it would be a good hen night venue as well, and the pool tables can be converted into Ping Pong/Beer Pong on request.
The other factor that makes Spot White really stand out is the late opening, with food and drink available until a staggering 6am. Safe to say after all that booze we did not make it quite that late but we did our best. All in all it was a great night, everyone had a fantastic time and we would definitely recommend Spot White’s Platinum Lounge to everyone. Its versatility means it would be perfect for both daytime activities and a night-time venue.
