The Simon and Garfunkel Story Is The Perfect Night Of Nostalgia

Direct from it’s sold out success in London, The Simon and Garfunkel Story came into town and the Sage Gateshead, was the perfect venue for it. The performance tells the story of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel’s remarkable careers.

All the hits including Sound of Silence, Mrs Robinson, Cecilia, The Boxer and Bridge Over Troubled Water are on the set list, which is performed in front of a huge screen showing original footage from the years gone by.

We’re reminded of just how successful the duo were, their album Bridge Over Troubled Water was the best-selling album of 1970, 1971 and 1972 – outselling Elvis Presley, The Beatles and ABBA at the time. They also performed an outdoor concert in Central Park, New York, which was attended by more than 500,000 people making it one of the most attended concerts in US History.

The vocal harmonies between both singers Sam O’Hanlon and Charles Blyth are breathtaking (Bridge Over Troubled Water will send chills down your spine) and the standing ovation at the end of the show was very well deserved. This is a show for seasoned fans of Simon and Garfunkel or if you’re just in it for their big numbers – overall it’s the perfect night of nostalgia.
