Red’s True Barbecue Newcastle
A new restaurant has laid down the gauntlet to hungry locals – free barbecue until its smokers run empty!
Red’s True Barbecue, an authentic American barbecue restaurant opening at Intu Eldon Square is hosting a launch party on Friday 18th November with a promise of free food.
The award-winning smokehouse has already created a big stir on its Facebook page with more than 1,200 people committing to turn up to feast on low and slow smoked food.
Those lucky enough to gain a seat will earn a choice of smoked meats and sides, as well as a beer or glass wine, at no cost.
The restaurant has hosted similar events in the past attracting more than a thousand people who successfully queued to enjoy its menu.
James Newman, at Red’s, said: “We’re stoked to be opening in Newcastle – it’s been a long time coming but we’re finally here. This event is our opportunity to give something back to our Newcastle believers, even before we officially open on Monday 21st November. As it’s November we’re inviting people to queue inside the mall to keep warm. We’ll do our best to serve every person that queues up, and for those that make it in, expect amazing smoked meats, beer, live music and a few surprises too!”
“And because it’s free, and very nearly the season of good will, we’re asking those that do party with us to kindly make a donation on the night to The People’s Kitchen charity to keep the generosity paying forward.”
People wishing to try their luck can join the queue with doors opening from 7pm. Each table will be given a 45-minute timeslot to eat and drink before having to make way for the next guests.
Red’s True Barbecue will officially open to the public at 12pm Monday 21st November.
