Lumley Castle partner with NOVELTEA to launch new afternoon tea concept
Lumley Castle has partnered with NOVELTEA founders Lukas Passia and Vincent Efferoth, creators of alcoholic tea products, The Tale of Earl Grey and the Tale of Tangier to serve up a new afternoon tea concept. One of the first venues in the UK and only establishment to date in County Durham to offer their customers the ‘No Ordinary Tea at No Ordinary Hotel’ package, the venue recently hosted a launch event for media and local businesses to try the new concept before making it available to customers on 24th June.
NOVELTEA Founder Lukas Passia said;
“We are delighted to have partnered with Lumley Castle to create a new afternoon tea experience. Like NOVELTEA, the 600-year old castle shares a wonderful mix of tradition, spirit and heritage and it’s great to see how well the products complement their new offering. Having the support of local businesses and leading retail outlets including Fenwick Newcastle has been invaluable as we grow. The event at Lumley Castle however is the first time we have officially launched NOVELTEA as an afternoon tea concept. We believe NOVELTEA should be available everywhere, reinventing and revolutionising the afternoon tea experience and it’s great to have local venues like Lumley Castle on board supporting us on this journey.”
A business born from an appreciation of the Brits’ passion for both tea and alcohol, the products provide the perfect partner for afternoon tea with The Tale of Tangier beverage complimenting savoury products such as cheese scones and finger sandwiches and The Tale of Earl Grey suiting richer flavours like dark chocolate.
Claire Mitchell, Sales Director at Lumley Castle said;
“Afternoon tea has always been very popular here at the castle and as soon as we tried the NOVELTEA products we knew our customers would love them. As a unique and historic 600 year old venue, we pride ourselves on being no ordinary hotel. Customers love a tipple with their afternoon tea and NOVELTEA provides the ideal opportunity to enjoy a brand-new experience. With the option to serve the beverages both hot or cold, they are also a versatile product that can be enjoyed all year round. The only difficult decision is deciding which is your favourite!”
Afternoon tea will be priced at £23.95 per person, based on 2 people sharing and will be served with a small bottle of either the Tale of Earl Grey or Tale of Tangier.
To celebrate the launch of their new package, Lumley Castle will be offering the first 20 customers a special 20% discount off a NOVELTEA afternoon tea. To book, email firstname.lastname@example.org, ring on 0191 389 1111 or visit www.lumleycastle.com
NOVELTEA is the brainchild of Newcastle University graduates Vincent Efferoth and Lukas Passia who are delivering a new twist on how to take tea by creating boozy brews infused with gin and rum.
Both originally from Germany, they have settled in the North East to build their business after developing an interest in craft beers, spirit and afternoon tea traditions.
With typical accompaniments of prosecco and champagne, the pair were surprised to find no alcoholic tea equivalent available and thus the idea for NOVELTEA was born.
Available in 2 flavours ‘The Tale of Tangier’ and ‘The Tale of Earl Grey’ the products have already caught the attention of trendy bars, five-star establishments and artisan food halls, launching in Newcastle’s leading department store Fenwick.
The pair developed NOVELTEA after securing a place on the ‘Rise Up Founderships’ programme, Newcastle University’s innovative business start-up package for graduates with growth business ideas. Founderships nurture emerging entrepreneurial talent with financial backing, office space and mentoring.
