Dobson & Parnell extends NE1 Restaurant Week offer
Foodie fans of NE1 Restaurant Week now have even more cause to celebrate, as a new restaurant on the vibrant Quayside is extending its exclusive NE1 Restaurant Week offer until the end of August.
Troy Terrington, chef patron of Dobson & Parnell, which opened at 21 Queen Street in December, has devised a special menu for NE1 Restaurant Week (8- 12 August) showcasing the very best of refined British and European cuisine – and will now be serving this menu until 31 August, in response to very popular demand.
From 8- 31 August, guests can enjoy a three-course lunch for £15 or a two-course early dinner for £15, with the option to add a third dinner course for an additional £5. The offer is valid from 12-2pm between Tuesday and Saturday, and from 5.30pm – 9.30pm between Tuesday and Friday.
The menu includes such tasty starters as dill-cured Scottish salmon with crème fraiche and watercress, ham hock terrine with pickled vegetables and mustard dressing, and roasted red pepper soup with tomatoes, spiced lentils and yoghurt.
Mains include rope-grown mussels and chips with garlic, white wine, cream and parsley, pan-fried black cod warm salad of mixed beans with lemon dressing, and roast chicken breast, pan haggerty, charred spring onion and heritage carrots.
The dessert section of the menu features such tempting choices as sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream and salt caramel, crème brûlée with orange shortbread, and lemon tart with raspberry and mint.
Chef patron Troy Terrington uses ethically-sourced local, seasonal produce direct from nearby farms and markets. He moved to the North East in 2005 and worked as head chef at both Blackfriars Restaurant and Jesmond Dene House before opening Dobson & Parnell.
Troy said: “We’ve seen such a fantastic response to our offer for NE1 Restaurant Week that we decided to open it up for the rest of August – giving those who may have missed out on a NE1 Restaurant Week table the chance to take advantage of this great value deal.”
“Dobson & Parnell has gone from strength to strength since we opened in December, and this is the second time we’ve been involved in NE1 Restaurant Week. We find that it’s a great way of introducing new diners to what we offer – and it’s also a useful means of welcoming past visitors back to try out our new, regularly changing dishes. The Quayside is fast becoming a hotbed of culinary creativity, and we’re excited to be part of it.”
Dobson & Parnell is located within an elegant Victorian Grade II listed building, and is named after two of Newcastle’s Victorian architectural stalwarts, John Dobson and William Parnell, who designed the original building in 1863.
The Victorian building has long been an attractive location for restaurateurs. It was the original home of Terry Laybourne’s Michelin-starred 21 Queen Street as well as the popular modern-British restaurant Pan Haggerty.
Dobson & Parnell is part of the Hooked-on Group, alongside Blackfriars Restaurant in Newcastle and Hinnies Restaurant in Whitley Bay.
